Located in town, right off the beaten path, Café des Artistes has been a culinary icon of Puerto Vallarta for over 27 years.  And, this gastronomical retreat offers more than just great food.  First and foremost, it’s known for excellence in service and cuisine that is prepared to the highest of quality standards.  Then, within Café des Artistes’ beautiful, art-filled interior, where tranquility and upscale hospitality rein, you’ll be delighted by the passionately-plated creativity that looks, smells, and tastes like something from heaven.

Who is responsible for such an amazing dining establishment that delivers fresh and unique culinary innovation year-after-year?  Chef and founder Thierry Blouet has been pouring his creative spirit, passion, and unique style into this exquisite restaurant ever since it opened its doors in 1991.  And, he’s also a great teacher.  To explain, his line manager, Florencio Reyes, competed in the Jeunes Chefs Rôtisseurs culinary contest in Taiwan while representing Mexico in 2018.  He won first place.  What a testament to his teacher, chef Thierry Blouet of Café des Artistes.

Café des Artistes world-renowned cuisine

Chef Thierry Blouet’s unique style is simple.  He creates French cuisine inspired by Mexican flavors.  Of course, he elevates this to a new level.  First, he uses the freshest, highest-quality ingredients.  Next, he innovates every dish to produce unique flavors, colors, and textures.  Finally, his passion and creativity go into every plating, as you can clearly see in the photos below.

As a guest, you’ll enjoy familiar flavors that are heightened with bold character and delicious complexity.  And, each entree in Café des Artistes’ multi-course menus is plated artfully and methodically.  So, your senses will come alive and you’ll leave completely satisfied.

Jeunes Chefs Rôtisseurs culinary competition

As mentioned earlier, Chef Thierry Blouet’s line manager, Florencio Reyes, won first place in 2018 while representing Mexico during the Jeunes Chefs Rôtisseurs culinary competition in Taiwan.  This is quite a big deal, as top chefs from around the world represent their countries in this contest.  With a focus on encouraging and promoting the culinary expertise of young chefs, this contest offers the opportunity to showcase their talent and creativity in an international venue.

Jeunes Chefs Rôtisseurs’ goal is to promote cultural differences in food preparation and presentation using traditional techniques.  And, this contest provides an opportunity for the young chefs to compete with their peers from around the world.  Therefore, winning this competition puts Café des Artistes at the top of the list both in Mexico and in the world.

Café des Artistes amazing reviews

Clark from Needham Heights, MA wrote:  “Delicious and creatively presented food in a beautiful setting. Great service. Go here for a special meal on a special occasion.”

Rita from Elsene, Belgium wrote: “Got the name from some dear Mexican Friends and was not disappointed!  The place itself is a bit out of the crowded area, and that makes it even more special!  We walk up the stairs to a magical tropical patio, all lit up, like a secret garden.  The food is out of this world, and can understand why the lobster soup has been in the menu for 28 years!  Fish of the day was delish and on point!  The ice cream was to die for!  Paco and Marcos tended to my every need throughout the night, very attentive and thoughtful!  Recommend to anyone visiting PV!
